The Estate

Magnificently located on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Château La Lagune is one of the finest references of the Haut-Médoc appellation. Since 2004, Caroline Frey has dedicated her expertise to elevating Château La Lagune to the highest level of excellence.

The Vineyard

Planted on a deep gravelly rise, the Château La Lagune vineyard covers 80 hectares. The vines are cultivated according to certified organic and biodynamic farming practices. This iconic Haut-Médoc estate is planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot.

The Vintage

The winter was characterized by above-average temperatures and very low rainfall, leading to budburst approximately three weeks earlier than usual. A cold spell at the end of March had no significant impact on the vineyard. The application of prepared horn manure (500P) stimulated microbial activity, promoted humus formation, and enhanced the soil’s capacity to absorb and retain water.

Heavy rainfall in early May increased downy mildew pressure, but treatments based on herbal infusions, including buckthorn bark and willow, helped maintain healthy vines. Flowering began under favorable conditions from May 15 onward. Summer was hot and dry, and applications of yarrow and chamomile helped protect the vines from water stress. Thunderstorms in mid-August proved beneficial, bringing much-needed moisture and cooler temperatures. Ripening progressed steadily and evenly through to harvest.

Château La Lagune 2020 impresses with its deep color, expressive aromatic richness, and refined tannic structure, where complexity and elegance are beautifully intertwined. This vintage is distinguished by its delicate freshness, remarkable balance, and harmonious finish.
