The peatiest of Islay’s single malts, presented in a young official expression that is non-chill filtered and true to tradition.

Nose: Balanced and deep. Phenolic, peaty and smoky, the initial nose also reveals chocolate notes. It develops into candied fruits (lemon, grapefruit), with iodine and camphor notes. Marked by sea spray and smoked fish, it increasingly expresses its true island character. Roasted aromas of freshly ground coffee and tobacco emerge as the finale.

Appearance: Bright gold.

Palate: Firm and lively. The initial attack is spicy, with grey pepper and clove, before smoke and ash take centre stage. Subtly liquorice-like, the mid-palate becomes increasingly earthy and saline. Mineral in character, with chalky notes, it returns to fresh fruits such as pear and apple, alongside citrus and lemon. The finish is milky, with agave notes, and floral, reminiscent of lily and iris.

Finish: Long and ashy. Freshly cut grass and spearmint highlight its herbaceous character. Gentian roots and ginger then anchor it deeply in the soils of Islay. The retronasal experience alternates between peat, smoke and white fruits. The empty glass reveals pronounced empyreumatic notes of tar and eucalyptus.
