Created in 1891 and entirely rebuilt in 1965, the Craigellachie distillery produces a single malt that pleases master blenders. Aged 13 years, this expression, straddling maturity and youthful spirit, gives the malted barley the essential role it deserves. However, pretty medicinal, fruity, and floral notes give its contours a great deal of subtlety, vigor, and a certain depth of field.

Nose: delicate, precise, clean. The malted barley, citrus (lemon), almond paste, and cut grass compose a range that is both heady and refreshingly bright. A fine medicinal and peppery touch enhances the originality of the nose, both mature and still carrying a hint of adolescence.

Palate: sweeter and more onctuous than the nose would suggest, it begins to unveil spices (gray pepper, cinnamon, ginger). The mid palate frees up with candied fruits and white flowers. Its bitterness is invigorating. It lingers slowly on the malted barley and fresh fruits (melon, kiwi).

Finish: long, gentle. This time, the spices, specifically ginger and cinnamon, echo on the palate. They gradually give way to new fresh fruits (apple, pear), nuts (cashews), and voluminous flowers (lavender, lilac). The retro-nasal note is softly malted and roasted. The glass empties with the connotations of fresh tobacco and malted barley.
